Dr. Cathi Neal is the Founder and the Executive Director of Changing Course Foundation, a non-profit organization that has worked for the past 20 years with groups to develop leadership, team building and trust. Changing Course also ran a boys ranch from 2011-2014, and has recently developed Christian counseling and Professional Staff Development programs.
Cathi has many attributes to help Changing Course Foundation be a success, she is an ACCT Trained Challenge Course Manager, holds a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Forensic Psychology and a Masters of Science in Management with a Change Leadership Emphasis, and recently earned her Ph.D. in Christian Counseling from Colorado Theological Seminary.
Dr. Cathi is a published author of the book titled Genesis: An Addict’s Viewpoint. This is a commentary on Genesis that is simple to understand. The idea was given to her by 2 friends that said “I would read the Bible if I could understand it”. This book helped these 2 people change their thoughts and views on God and helped bring them to Christ.
She has worked in the Experiential Learning Field since 1997. She received her training through the Boy Scouts of America, Project Adventure, Ropeworks Inc., Alpine Towers Inc., and Synergo.
Recently, Dr. Cathi attended a certification program through the global consulting company, Next Element. She became a Certified Provider for the world renown curriculum surrounding the concept of Compassionate Accountability©, and a program called LOD®.
She also attended The Center for Effective Teachers training for Classroom Management.
Cathi founded Changing Course Foundation out of the desire to help others make better life decisions.
Cathi is dedicated to providing opportunities that enhance the growth and stability of the people that come into her life.
Director of Operations
Mistie is a Level II Certified ACCT trained Challenge Course Practitioner. She is the Director of Operations for Changing Course and is responsible for day to day operations of the Challenge Course aspect of the organization.
In this role, Mistie coordinates, schedules and facilitates groups in Experiential Learning. Mistie can transform your team from mediocre to great. Mistie holds an Associate degree in Criminal Justice, has been an Aquatics Director for the BSA for 5 years, training her staff to become lifeguards and running a high profile Summer Camp Aquatics program for several years. Mistie is experienced in the Outdoor Experiential learning community. Since 1998, Mistie has been involved in detailed teambuilding programs, training other practitioners and spent nine years as a Correctional Officer and Commissary Manager for the State of Texas Prison system.
Mistie is no stranger to adversity and being able to identify with those who are struggling. She grew up in a broken home and witnessed the lifestyle of destruction that comes with drug, alcohol, emotional and physical abuse. Today she believes in a God that has sustained and brought her through her lifes struggles. After losing two significant people in her life, Mistie had an experience that dropped her to her knees and the realization that her relationship with God had been lacking and the only way to change her life was to change her heart. She has dedicated her life to helping others find the resources they need to live a successful and productive life.
